Outstanding performances at PDSSSC Athletics Championships

There was a strong spirit of competition at the Parramatta Diocese Secondary Schools Sports Council's Athletics Championships that were held recently at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Some 1,250 athletes from 22 schools in the diocese strived for personal best in a wide range of track and field events. Throughout the carnival, 10 new records were established and many more were very close to being broken.
Officials from Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NS worked tirelessly at the world class facility to ensure the event ran smoothly.
The winning schools in each division were:
Boys - Marian College - 310.5, Gilroy College - 299, Xavier College - 209
Girls - OLMC Parramatta - 252, Caroline Chisholm - 239.5, Cerdon College - 207.0
Overall - Gilroy College - 459.5, Marian College - 421.5, Xavier College - 284.5

Congratulations to the above athletes as some of these records had stood for over 20 years. There were some brilliant individual efforts with some athletes competing in up to 10 events over the day. Our age champions were indeed worthy recipients as the best overall athlete in their age group. The age champions were:-
