Image: Corpus Christi ’s got talent and imagination

Corpus Christi Primary, Cranebrook welcomed the community to a number of Catholic Schools Week celebrations, including a parish mass, morning tea and open classrooms A parish community mass was celebrated on Thursday 15 March followed by morning tea and open classrooms and a display on imagination and innovation in the school library. On Friday 16 March, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 had an opportunity to let their talents shine in a Catholic Schools Week talent quest, ‘Corpus Christi’s got Talent’.

It was a healthy Catholic Schools Week at Mary MacKillop Primary, Penrith South with an energetic display of the students’ Health Hustle activities.The parish and community were invited to join staff and students for an afternoon of ‘Learning in Action’ presentations, which also included the newest students of the school, Early Stage 1, performing the school song.

Image: Former students share stories at St Finbar’s

Throughout Catholic Schools Week the school community of St Finbar’s Primary, Glenbrook, welcomed former students back to their old classrooms. The guests spoke to current students, teachers and parents about their time at St Finbar’s, what they had learnt and how that knowledge helped them in their life today. The guests spoke fondly of their primary school memories and made a special mention of the role their teachers had in inspiring them to care for all people and always do their best. Parents and the community were also invited to a number of open classroom sessions, including literacy and sport, to see the students ‘learning in action’.

Image: Learning in Action at Terra Sancta

Terra Sancta College , Schofields and Quakers Hill hosted a community wide Catholic Schools Week celebration on Learning in Action day, Wednesday 14 March. The college put an enormous amount of hard work into making the day a success, with activities and displays including a Science fair, Design and Technology, Art, Sport and Music. College principal, Chris McDermott said the day allowed the whole community to celebrate the strength of Catholic education and Terra Sancta College in particular. “One of our aims for 2007 is to further develop the partnership with staff, students, families, parishes and the wider community, and Catholic Schools Week is a wonderful opportunity to do this.”

Image: New flag for Our Lady of Lourdes

Federal Member for Mitchell, The Hon. Alan Cadman MP visited Our Lady of Lourdes Primary, Baulkham Hills South during Catholic Schools Week to present the community with an Australian flag. The flag will fly on the school’s new flagpole, which was purchased by the Federal Government. Principal, Helen Kingsley said the flagpole is a welcome addition to the school’s $2.6 million building project, which was officially opened and blessed on Sunday 25 March. The building project includes three new classrooms and refurbishment of all existing classrooms, new and refurbished staff areas, a new learning centre, administration block and canteen, outdoor amphitheatre, extensive landscaping and installation of an elevator.

Image: St Patrick’s day brings community together

The community at Patrician Brothers College, Blacktown celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a St Patrick’s Day Mass on Friday 16 March. A number of community and parish leaders, local Catholic school principals and representatives of the Catholic Education Office joined staff, students and families for the mass, which included the unveiling of a statue of Bishop Daniel Delany, founder of the Patrician Brothers order.
